The Perrelet Turbine Hope

For Only Watch -

Per Perrelet -

PERRELET "TURBINE HOPE”, UNIQUE PIECE FOR ONLY WATCH

Perrelet is renowned for its unique representation of the automatic movement thanks to its patented Double Rotor and Turbine technology. The famous 12-blade dial, a distinctive design code of all Perrelet's Turbine models, is protected under a sapphire glass. The original 3D effect created by the blades gives the impression of diving into the heart of the dial. The propeller, picked out in black anodised aluminum with five tungsten counterweights, rotates in time to the motions of the wrist. As the blades spin, a lower sub-dial reveals a medley of positive words: hope, love, support, volunteer, life, social, community. The word "HOPE", highlighted in bright orange, is the dial's protagonist and features an original letter "O" formed by a fluffy white cloud with a rainbow. This design was inspired by paintings made by Italian children at the beginning of the pandemic in Italy and is a powerful symbol of hope that everything will be all right and that thanks to the ongoing progress of medical and scientific research, the virus will be defeated.

Courtesy of Perrelet

The Arabic numerals on the flange and the hours and minutes hands are covered with white Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility in any light conditions. As a final touch of refinement, the words printed on the sub-dial are luminescent with green light emission. The central seconds hand and the indices are picked out in orange to match the word HOPE.

"TURBINE HOPE" is powered by the new generation in-house automatic calibre P-331- MH. Chronometer-certified by COSC and Chronofiable, it beats at 28,800vph and has a 42-hour power reserve. The transparent porthole on the case back offers a view of the refined finishes on the bridges and its elegant open-worked oscillating weight, which is mounted on ball bearings and personalised with the House logo. The crystal caseback displays the transferred logo "Only Watch 2021" and the inscription "Unique Piece".

"TURBINE HOPE" comes with a customised bi-material orange strap made of rubber and water- resistant calf leather with black stitching, fitted with a folding clasp in black PVD stainless steel and embellished with the Perrelet logo. The timepiece is also equipped with an additional and comfortable bi-material orange strap in rubber and fabric for a more casual look.

Perrelet's Special Edition Turbine Racing Series

This just in from Perrelet -

Perrelet Revs Up With Special Edition Turbine Racing Series

Lined up on the starting grid are a series of new watches from Perrelet's Special Edition Turbine Racing collection. There are two teams on the track: the Turbine, equipped with a 44 mm-diameter case, and the 50 mm Turbine XL.

Color takes pole position, with bold shades vividly expressing the sporting spirit of Perrelet's most iconic timepieces. Red, yellow, blue and white, inspired by the gleaming bodywork of racing cars, take over the rubber straps. The chromatic impact is accentuated by the additional color accent on the inner bezel ring on which the hours are indicated by luminescent Arabic numerals. Further nuances are provided by the fan-shaped line pattern adorning the dial, beneath the 12-blade turbine. The passing of time is indicated by luminescent hour and minute hands, as well as a central second's hand.

The Turbine Racing collection by Perrelet features DLC-treated steel cases in red, blue and yellow versions, while the incomparable design is naturally further enhanced by the pure gleam of steel in the stunning white variations all of which are available in either, 44 or 50 mm diameter.

For the 50 mm Turbine XL there are four options Red, Yellow, Blue and White:

What watch would Aquaman wear?

A Diver with a Twist - the Turbine Diver from Perrelet

This is the Turbine Diver from Perrelet.  I have to say that I really like this one.  Perhaps the biggest reason is sensory - the spinning turbine dial is (to me at least) reminiscent of the propeller of a submarine.
Courtesy of Perrelet
As with any good dive watch, there is a function for timing dive durations.  And here again, Perrelet swims somewhat against the stream by utilizing an inner bezel as opposed to an outer.  I think that this is a better solution for a few reasons - it allows for a larger display as it does not have to be squeezed onto a rotating outer bezel, it is not susceptible to the same dings and marks as an outer rotating bezel, and because it is "under glass" it improves visibility for aging and less forgiving eyes.
Courtesy of Perrelet
47.5 mm and water resistant to 300 meters, this might indeed be the watch that Aquaman himself wears!

The Turbine Diver is powered by the automatic P-331 movement based on the new Manufacture-made Alternance 10 caliber.

The Turbine Diver is available in stainless steel, and stainless steel/black DLC coated  steel.

Perrelet's new caliber - Alternance 10 (A10)

It is always exciting to hear that another watch brand has moved closer to self-sufficiency by launching an
in-house movement.  Today the news came that Perrelet has joined the ranks of companies with firmer control of their own futures.  As a member of the Festina group, Perrelet is now seeing some real benefit from its membership.
Courtesy of Perrelet

Here are some details from the folks at Perrelet:

The A10 caliber, produced entirely within The Festina Group, features:

A new escapement featuring optimized efficiency and balance spring.

An automatic 11 ½''' movement, beating at 28,800 vph. Robust and reliable it has earned Chronofiable* certification and which may, on request, also benefit from COSC chronometer certification.

Several variations - three hands plus date, three hands with visible balance, along with skeletonized models.

A broad range of additional functions which to date includes Large Dates, Dual Time-Zone with day-night indicator, Power Reserve, 24-hour indicator, Chronograph and Small Seconds.

The A10 also incorporates custom-made complications and in particular Perrelet's signature Double Rotor modules.

And this is Perrelet's Peripheral Double Rotor, featuring the in-house A10 Caliber Movement.
Courtesy of Perrelet
CEO Fausto Salvi had this to say -

"Today more than ever, having in house means of developing and producing horological specialties represents a great opportunity. Production autonomy is an extremely important issue and an aspect that enables us to remain in the avant-garde of our field. Witness the recent acceleration we have undertaken in diversifying the Double Rotor modules. The A10 movement represents a milestone achievement for us; we are well on the way towards complete independence"

Red, White and Turbine!

This is one of Perrelet's latest limited editions -

This is Perrelet's Limited Edition AMERICA!  One of the newest members of the Turbine XL collection, this 50 mm version incorporates Perrelet's now famous double rotor technology.  The front "rotor" has been re-imagined to form a 12 blade wheel, or turbine.  As we know, the rotor of a self-winding watch turns and spins to help wind the movement - creating and storing power.  But you never really see it in action, as it is behind the dial.  Perrelet has taken the necessary and expanded upon it - taking something strictly functional, and making it both beautiful and fascinating.  The second "rotor" is in fact, part of the watch dial itself.  As the rotor spins, it reveals the stars and stripes of old glory in a constantly changing motif.

Courtesy of Perrelet
Here's the info straight from Perrelet -

Perrelet has taken the American flag to create a whole new interpretation of their famous double rotor technology. When the designers began to work on the AMERICAN LIMITED EDITION, they played with a deconstructed perspective of the American flag, and the results are stunningly graphic and distinctively iconic of images from comic books. Figures dressed in stars and stripes and pin ups with skirts blazing take the spotlight.

The Turbine collection's signature 12-blade wheel rotates over a dial painted with the red and white stripes of the American flag. Make it twirl and the colors begin a wild dance, performing endlessly varied random figures. Everything is a question of speed and nothing can be perfectly reproduced in an identical manner. Optical effects follow on from each other in rapid-fire succession in the center of an hour circle punctuated by blue squares bearing white stars. Divided into groups of eight or nine, there are 50 in total, exactly the number of states represented on the current American flag.

This is a very limited edition - only 777 pieces for you Yankee-Doodle-Dandies, so move sharply!
