12 Days of Christmas - in 2 Blog Posts!

Okay, it is that time of year.  Now unless you're talking about a SWATCH, or perhaps a 3thirty3 ; )  watches and other expensive luxury items are not generally what I tend to think of as Christmas/Holiday gifts (sorry to disappoint you gentle readers), but having said that here are the 12 things that I'd plump for if money was no object, so herein my personal 12 Days of Christmas part the first -

1.  The newly christened Filip & Co. Cleveland Ohio City -

3.  At Tempus Fugit we like nice stuff, but we also like to do good.  So the upcoming Edelberg "Polio" pen is right in our wheel house!

Filip & Co - The Bling is the Thing!

Now having seen yet another FULL PAGE ad in the New York Times heralding the "RETURN" of watch making in the US, I thought I would share a step by step photo story on how Filip Blazevic assembles his watches ONE AT A TIME in his workshop in the Cleveland area.  

Filip lets his work, and his watches speak for themselves.  So you will not have to depend on a huge marketing budget to let you know about it - you simply need to use your eyes ; )

Winding up the Filip Cleveland Westside Gold

I've gone 15 days and beyond with the Cleveland Westside Gold, and it is time to wrap this up!

The Filip & Co. Cleveland - Attention to Details

So I am now into "extra time" with the Filip & Co. Cleveland Westside Gold.

And what I've been noticing more and more are the details.  I have already commented on the dial - which is one of the nicest "sunburst" dials I have seen up close in some time.

But as I often have said, it is the cumulative attention to details that will often make or break the overall impression we have about a watch.  In this particular instance, the crown is a very, very good example. While a lot of other bigger and (no offense) richer watch brands and companies out there will simply do a basic laser engraving.  But not so with Filip & Co.

There is a true depth of field to the crown, with the logo clearly rising out of the main space of the crown.  This will not "rub off" over time.

Likewise, with the case.  The side engraved "Filip & Co".  Where other watch companies slap a "plaque" on the side (which often falls off), the Cleveland's case itself bears the message.

And the strap!  Alligator, with a 20 mm lug width.

The finish is first rate and the stitching is immaculate.

All in all, these little details add up to a wonderful total.

And in terms of time keeping?  Holding at +8 seconds!
