My relationship with Eterna, both personal and professional, has been the stuff of rom-com gold!
Boy meets watch, boy falls in love with watch, watch leaves, boy and watch are reunited. You get the idea.
For the past several years, the HQ in Grenchen has seemed not unlike the Wonka factory - "You see, nobody ever goes in, and nobody ever comes out."
So not unlike Wonka's Golden Tickets, today's Eterna Facebook post stirred just a little curiosity in this reporter -
Today we would like to announce the relaunch of the Eterna Facebook page. While it has been quiet here for some time, we have been working behind the scenes on various exciting new projects. In the coming weeks and months you can expect a number of announcements. Stay tuned and thank you very much for your ongoing support of our brand.
So I thought I'd do something unusual in the world of watch journalism - I decided to do some good old fashioned research. Simply put, I visited the Eterna website (it was 5:30 AM this morning and we did not have a good view of the "Ring of Fire" eclipse). And straight up on the "Columbo-tip", this is what I found -

Ladies and Gentlemen, and Children of all ages, I present you the 1940 Chronograph!
Again, to be clear, I do not have any sort of inside information on this other than what I found on the website, which I wouldn't have checked out without my curiosity being piqued by Eterna's Facebook post. Which if nothing else, just goes to show that social media still works ; ). Having said that, I will be reaching out to whoever might be able to provide me with more info on this, which I promise to share as soon as I have it.
When these beguiling time machines will go on sale is unknown to this reporter, but for those of you (like me) about to have a serious conversation with your piggy banks) Eterna has provided the pertinents for each piece.
