with Vacheron Constantin
Point of full disclosure - NOT everyone gets invited to SIHH. I am ONE of those NOT everyones ; )
But sometimes a snub can be an advantage! You don't feel compelled to crank out the same items as everyone else. So keeping that in mind, of the multitude of SIHH related press releases in the Tempus Fugit in-box, this is the one that caught my eye this past week.
This is the Harmony Ultra-Thin Grande Complication Chronograph Caliber 3500.
As part of a group of beautiful chronographs presented to honor and recognize Vacheron Constantin's 280th Anniversary, this was my favorite.
A beautiful "old-timey" dial offers some really intriguing complications -
Power reserve, a “dragging” chronograph minutes indication, split-seconds... oh and did I tell you? It's an ULTRA THIN movement!
It is nice to see a brand stretch a bit and present something truly singular in its beauty and precision. It would be easy to slap "280 years" on a dial, pour some drinks and call it done. But clearly Vacheron remembers that they are not just A watch company - for many of us they are THE watch company.

So congratulations to Vacheron Constantin - at least from my humble (but warm and sunny) perch here in Santa Barbara you are the "Best in Show".
