This is the latest offering from Vintage VDB.  A series of ONE.  The VDB Timer's case is of stainless steel and measures 55x57x18.  The movement is ETA's 7750.

Introducing Karl Breitner Watches

As we are gearing up towards BaselWorld it seemed like a good opportunity to introduce some of you to a brand you may not know - Karl Breitner.

This is the Admiral, a 42 mm chronograph powered by ETA's 7750, and very reasonably priced at 1785 €.  

For those of you unfamiliar with Karl Breitner, their production/assembly is based in Slothurn, Switzerland.  They offer six different product families ranging from inexpensive quartz to this self-winding chronograph.

P'6300 Flat Six from Porsche Design

This just in from Porsche Design - the P'6300 Flat Six has 3 new offerings

There is of course a chronograph -  the P'6360 (pictured above) is powered by ETA's 7750.  44 mm in diameter.  Available in either shot blasted and polished stainless steel, or shot blasted and polished PVD coated stainless steel.

 A new offering in white for the P'6351 is a bit of a departure for the Flat Six in the time/date version. powered by the Sellita SW200.  It is 40 mm in diameter.

But not to worry, there are still traditional design influences as well!  This is the P'6350 and is a more robust 44 mm in diameter.  Also powered by the Sellita SW200, this is the essence of Porsche Design's Flat Six.

Eberhard's Champion V - Arise Sleeping Beauty!

Although this was a BaselWorld release, it is one of those watches that keeps calling to me.  This is the Champion V from Eberhard.

A 42.8 mm stainless steel case surrounds the ETA 7750 movement.  Three registers and date, it is at once sporty and functionally useful.  But I think one of the most appealing aspects is the departure from the Eberhard of the 80s and 90s.  This has been a gradual process that has seen the once sleeping beauty emerge from her slumber with some new takes on the classic forms of the Eberhard of old.

The numbered bezel, the red accents - including the red stitching on the strap - you can see the DNA, but this is not your father's Eberhard!  And that is a good thing!

Up until about 5 years ago, Eberhard was about as sexy as a Buick.  Today - not so much!  There seems to be a much greater focus on not just making highly functional watches, but making visually appealing ones as well.  I think we are witnessing the first few years of the next era for Eberhard - one where the traditional values are maintained, while nurturing creativity - allowing for new interpretations of their classic lines.
