The Transfer Window Opens Again - this time a whole team!

Word has made its way to Santa Barbara that 88 Rue Du Rhone has opted to shift its North American Distribution to AKSTROM Imports of Montreal, Canada.  

AKSTROM is the distributor for Bedat - remember them?  Well for those of you who don't, back at the turn of the century a former Raymond Weil loyalist Simone Bédat founded the brand with her son Christian.

We will of course, keep you posted, but for now that is the news.

88 RUE DU RHONE enjoyed unparalleled success in its first year as the Official Watch & Timing Partner at last weekend’s British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).  Some of the most recognized names from the world of film  were chosen to wear the timepieces during their red carpet moment at the International Awards Ceremony.

The weekend began at The Savoy Hotel, with the launch of the 88 RUE DU RHONE Style Suite, London’s most historic five-star hotel. Co-Founders, Pierre and Elie Bernheim greeted the crème de la crème of the film industry, who each received one of the 50 Limited edition timepieces, created by the brand in celebration of the partnership with BAFTA.

Those who received the watches over the two-day event included Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Irvine, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dexter Fletcher, Danny King,Dimitri Doganis, Bart Layton, Juno Temple, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Joaquin Pheonix, Bill Westenhofer, John C. Reilly, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Sarah Silverman, Tim Roth, Stephen Fry, Rick Edwards, Mark Ulano, Helen McCory, Mark Strong, Sir Ian McKellan, Ben Whishaw, Idris Elba, Paul Butterworth, Jonathan Rhys-Meyer, Luke Evans, Ralf Little and the cast of The Hobbit.

Saturday night saw the brand launch the inaugural 88 RUE DU RHONE Past Forward BAFTA Art Exhibition at Asprey’s London flagship store. The exhibition is comprised of a collection of unique images from the BAFTA archive (1955-2003) and BAFTA future archive (2004 – Present) and showcases iconic and intimate moments in the British academy’s history. The Asprey Official Nominees party was the setting to unveil unique photographic work by artist Kevin Vucic Shepherd, who was commissioned by the brand to capture the inner workings of BAFTA’s head office. The result is an intimate portrait, comprised of hundreds of individual images that build a beautiful insight to such prestigious venue.

watches that will be gifted to all citation readers over the duration of the BAFTA weekend.

The 88 RUE DU RHONE Limited Edition BAFTA timepiece features a unique engraving of the EE British Academy of Film and Television Arts logo on the back of the watch case. Along with the gifted presenters, 88 RUE DU RHONE will be giving away a number of these limited edition watches through social media competitions to lucky members of the public.

The gent's timepiece features a sleek, stylish 42mm rose gold case, with black dial, date display and chronograph functions. This piece is based upon a classic style and comes with a soft brown leather strap and is 50m water resistant.

The ladies piece has been designed using a 35mm stainless steel case that features 11 Diamond index, with the 8-filigree motif and silver Arabic numeral 8 detail. The strap is made from shiny black calf leather with alligator padding and ardillion buckle.
