The Planet Ocean "Deep Black"

These were previewed for some of us on Monday evening in New York.  Now contrary to what  you might infer (justifiably) from the PR images provided by Omega's press agency, Hodinkee was not the only watch media outlet there, although they were, apparently, the only ones of significance  ; )

Having said that, the watches represented an interesting new offering from Omega.  The Planet Ocean GMT "Deep Black" is, as you have probably been able to deduce, a Planet Ocean dive watch with a GMT function.  But it is more than that to be sure as it also incorporates some interesting ideas.

If I have read and understood the press kit correctly, the case is the first Planet Ocean watch to be crafted from ceramic.

The red and blue versions have another twist - the bezel is crafted from ceramic and rubber.  The 15 minute countdown section of the bezel.

The movement is indeed impressive, and I'll let Omega put it in their own words -
