I joined a cult back in 2001. It wasn't anything I planned. I had just finished a particularly grueling dentist's appointment. Not feeling too sharp, I wandered San Francisco's downtown and found
myself in Seregin's looking at a watch I'd never seen from a brand I'd only heard a little bit about - Eterna's Super KonTiki 50th anniversary model. Needless to say, it left the store on my wrist. Ever since then, the KonTiki has resonated with me more than the Submariner, the Seamaster, and (Sorry DOXA) even the SUB!

This is the latest member of the KonTiki family - the Super KonTiki Chronograph.
Measuring 45 mm in diameter it is crafted of stainless steel. Eterna opted for a bi-compax chronograph - my personal favorite! But no mere bi-compax. This is Eterna's 3916A which features a reported power reserve of 65 hours.

Nice. Love to see that this has the 3916A movement, and not an ETA. I have been very much deliberating on buying the Royal Kontiki with the same movement, but now I may have the problem of choosing between that one and this one (or one of each..?). I'll be looking forward to seeing what else Eterna comes up with during Baselworld. Good to see that they are making more models, and with different variations on these, instead of just sticking with the same ones for years on end, as they did before. I love the old models, don't get me wrong, but sometimes something new is refreshing.
