Live from New York, it's Martenero!

You may have heard of this new brand… but then again you might not have!

Martenero is the child of John Tarantino and Matt O’Dowd, who met by chance in Spain.
And this serendipitous encounter led to the collaboration that is now Martenero, and the location led to the name -

MARTENERO began with a chance encounter. The two founders were surprised to run into each other in an unusual location: the corner of Martín de los Heros and Romero Robleado in Madrid, Spain.

Well, it is to the watch world's benefit that they met, and are now offering two models - the Founder (pictured above), and the Ace (pictured below) -

Both watches are well priced at $485.  And for $485, you also get the opportunity to customize your watch a bit by choosing dial color, hand color combinations, a brown or black leather strap - AND - a NATO style strap into the bargain!  You will have a short wait while you're watch is being assembled to your specifications, but I feel confident there will be many willing to be patient.

So just for fun, I customized a Martenero Founder, and here is what my choice would be -

It is nice to see an automatic movement being pressed into service - but it is also interesting to see that Martenero is part of the large-scale shift to the Miyota movement (821A).
So fingers crossed for a bright and rosy future!
