The angular,
sculptural cases that characterize the timepieces in the Hawk collection have
forged the reputation of this sporty and contemporary line. Respecting these
stylistic canons to the tee, the design of the new Chrono Hawk Pink Gold
marries the sumptuousness of precious metal with the technical sophistication
of black ceramic and rubber. A case that is both luxurious and innovative
presents a polychrome face in which the intensity of the dark components heightens
the warmth of the gold. In the same spirit it embraces the novel combinations,
with the high-tech rubber strapped encased with alligator.
The case is made
up of 62 different parts and demands a high degree of skill to produce. With a
frame fashioned from satin-finished pink gold and measuring 44 mm in diameter,
it serves as the basic structure that incorporates the other parts, starting
with those made of ceramic and rubber. The ceramic is extremely resistant to
wear and tear with a Vickers hardness of 1,400. It is composed of micrograins
with a diameter of 0.2 microns, compressed at very high pressure. Because it is
scratch-proof, ceramic is used for the bezel, in particular, but also the
chronograph push piece parts, including the push piece protectors and the
crown.
The dial of the
Chrono Hawk Pink Gold displays a motif inspired by the shape of the famous
Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon Bridges. It is encircled by a three-dimensional
flange graduated with the minutes scale and showcases the indexes striped with
bands of luminescent material to enable night reading. The hands are also
visible in the dark. The small seconds are viewed on a subdial at 3 o'clock,
while the chronograph functions are displayed via a central direct-drive
seconds hand and a subdial at 9 o'clock for the minutes. An aperture at 6
o'clock shows the date.
The Chrono Hawk
Pink Gold houses a GP03300 self-winding Manufacture movement with 431
components. Its arrow-shaped oscillating weight and the decorative finishes on
the movement can be admired through a sapphire crystal case-back, which is
itself engraved and secured with screws. This latest version of the Hawk is
water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters and has an alligator strap with a
folding buckle.
