I have come to accept a few things about myself:
This is Girard-Perregaux's latest take on their Iconic Sea Hawk.
The 44 mm case is an intriguing concoction of stainless steel, and (wait for it) rubber. That's right, the crown is made of rubber. And actually, I think that is a pretty great idea. It is not unlike the stopper for a bottle of wine that I hear some people use when for some unknown reason they do not finish the bottle…
But think about this for a moment - steel is great, but you always need gaskets. But rubber? It is big, solid, and TACTILE! You can actually grip it and turn it! The rubber will be MUCH MORE FORGIVING than cold steel.
The watch offers hours, minutes, seconds, date and a power reserve indicator. In addition, there is a helium escape valve to ensure your watch does not get the "bends" or the "squeeze".
Available either on a rubber strap or with a very organic looking bracelet.
The movement is Girard-Perregaux's GP03300 (self-winding mechanical), with a power reserve of 46 hours.
Water resistant to a hearty depth of 1,000 meters.
Here are the details:
1. I have a terrible poker face, I can't really hide my facial reactions.
2. Although we may NEVER win a national championship, I still believe that Oregon some day WILL win a national championship.
3. No matter how long I have lived elsewhere, I am still a Northern Youth.
4. I am absolutely biased in favor of almost everything that Girard-Perregaux makes - it is fortunate that blogging doesn't make me any real "bank" because I know where most of the money would end up ; )
