What Watch Would Carter the Great Wear?

Perhaps one of my ALL TIME favorite books is Carter Beats the Devil.  It is a period piece, a sort of Educated Forrest Gump of the early 20th century, and most of it taking place in San Francisco and Oakland.  It is a BRILLIANT read, and I HIGHLY recommend it!

At some point in the story, young carter the magician was presented with a pocket watch with a repeater function.  Now if that story were to be set in the modern age, I suspect he would have been presented this one from Audemars Piguet.
