Ressence Type 3 - Credit Where Credit is Due!

Sometimes, sometimes the best man wins!

And this is one of those times.

Benoît Mintiens is one of those people that the watch industry DESPERATELY needs.  He comes from outside - an industrial designer by training and to some extent by profession.  Here is how he answered my question about  his work back in 2011 -

My job ( the one that pays the bills at the end of the month ) is as a consultant in industrial design.  My work for Ressence is for serious fun!

How can you NOT love an answer like that?  Having spoken a few times with him, I can tell you he is one of the nicest, most genuine people in the industry.

But let's get back to the news.  The Ressence Type 3 was awarded the "Horological Revelation" award at the 2013 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève recently!

Here is the news, straight from Ressence -

The international 23-member jury included French designer Philippe Starck; international director of Christie’s watch department, Aurel Bacs; musician and watch collector, John Mayer; and highly respected watch industry editors, journalists and specialists.
The Ressence Type 3 seduced the jury with its innovative fluid-filled dial that transports time from the surface of the dial to the top of the sapphire crystal by significantly minimising refraction. The Type 3 offers a tangible feeling of being able to touch time itself.
