The Alpha Movement - Where it All Began

So with three days under my belt, it seemed a good time to have a closer look "under the hood". 
This is a hand-winding movement, and the winding action is incredibly smooth.  And I have to say that it has in a very short time  become a real high point to my day.  I wake up and wind the watch, and in some ways it reminds me that each day is a new beginning, a new opportunity.  Very often we don't pause, we simply move forward.  But that few seconds each morning has given me an opportunity to put some things in perspective... but I digress.

The Tangente that I am testing is the NOMOS caliber α (Alpha).  As you can probably guess from the name, this is the first in house movement that the folks at NOMOS Glashütte came up with.  And I think what I like the most about this is the simplicity.  Yes, there is high quality finishing work, but it is not ornate for ornate's sake.  Clean, precise and crisp.  The elegance is in the simplicity.  Now make no mistake, simplicity does not mean dumb.  In fact quite the opposite.  Less is indeed more.  

It is early days of course, but we are currently at +5/6 seconds average deviation over the past 72 hours.

The movement itself has a diameter of 10 1/2 lines.  It is set with 17 jewels and has a power reserve of 43 hours.  You can count on a precise time synchronization owing to a stop-seconds mechanism.  A Glashütte three-quarter plate, Glashütte stopwork, Triovis fine adjustment regulator complete the highlights.
