JEANRICHARD's Terrascope - Revelling in the Unexpected!

Writing about watches is at times super easy, and other times monumentally frustrating.  A new Patek - that's easy.  There is a history, a pattern, a certain certainty of how you will write about it:
  • Tradition
  • Technological advancements in the movement construction
  • Exclusivity
But what do you do when you try to describe the emotional impact of a watch that you didn't expect to find?  For the most part, I thought I had come to an understanding of JEANRICHARD.  At least, what I thought I understood about it - little brother to Girard-Perregaux, been through some ups, some downs and some different iterations.  But how to describe the feeling I got when I first laid eyes on the Terrascope is a little like describing the indescribable.  We are all good at telling people what we don't want, or what we don't like.  It is only when we are asked what WOULD YOU LIKE that it becomes challenging.  And as is so often the case with watches, we don't know what we like until we see it.

This is a very, very welcome departure from what I have come to expect!  I love the shape of the case, the straight-forward layout of the dial and although I'm generally not big on bracelets - I truly like this one.  Yes, this is a sport watch, but you could conceivably wear it with a suit.  This to me underscores the commitment of JEANRICHARD to do more than just be the "junior" brand.  This is a fine looking watch at a gentler price point, and its own identity.  This is what I (and I suspect many others) have been wanting from JEANRICHARD - we just didn't know it!  I mean, how do you describe the watch you've been craving when you haven't seen it yet?

So JEANRICHARD - WE LIKE THIS!
