Highlands - dialing in

I have only a few more days with the JeanRichard Highlands, and have my favorite aspects still to talk about.

I am taken by the dial for a number of reasons.  It is clearly laid out and easy to read.  There was no attempt to jam the number 3 into the area already occupied by the date - a refreshing change from other designs out there.  And the use of standard numbers instead of indices for a more "action/military" style watch is a welcome change.

But being the son of a fashion designer, I also have to comment on the inter-play of the unexpected (or at least "non-standard") color selections.  The use of a beige/tan dial is cleverly combined with the use of subtle, yet noticeably different super luminova for the numbers and hands.  It isn't a dramatic difference in hue, but enough catch the eye.

I also like the use of the red tip for the second hand, as well as the date indicator.  Again, a departure from the obvious, and I'm fairly confident it isn't political ; )

The hands strike just the right balance.  They are not too large, nor are they meek.  The hour hand grabs your attention without overwhelming it, and again, the lume quality is perhaps the best that I have seen so far.  Two more days...
