Amida's Digitrend Open Sapphire

When it comes to trends, I am often on the slow coach, but noodling around this AM, I stumbled upon this reboot from the rebooted Amida brand. Although a very modern sounding moniker, Amida sprang into existence back in 1925 in Grenchen.

Like many brands, its time came and went. But like more and more brands, it has found a second life thanks to the vision and commitment of its new stewards - Matthieu Allègre, Bruno Herbet and Clément Meynier. And what better way to relaunch than with an updated twist on Amida's digital display watch which debuted in 1976. And now its back -

With a twist ; )

This is the Digitrend Open Sapphire. It takes 2024's Digitrend a step further with an open display top.

What makes the Digitrend and Digitrend Sapphire unique is an optical enhancement, per Amida:

"A prism at the front turned the jumping-hour disks ninety degrees, so time could be read on the side while driving. Today we pick up that idea and move it forward."
