The [RE]MASTER02

From Audemars Piguet

Okay, to be honest - I'm a wee bit conflicted by this latest release from Audemamrs Piguet.

I love the shape, the design is impeccable, and guess what? It isn't a Royal Oak! Considering that the choices at AP had been reduced to the Royal Oak sport and the dubious 11.59, this is a welcome offering.

The case is asymmetrical, that is the part that really jumps out at you. Its advertised size is 41 mm, with a thickness of 9.7 mm. The case is crafted of a new alloy that the folks at AP refer to as 18 carat sand gold. The movement is the Calibre 7129, which is self-winding.

Now for the conflicted portion - the price.

At $47,200 it is not an insignificant lift. And this is where the customer might be asking themselves just what else might be available from the other fancy brands out ther.

While I love the aesthetic and the willingness to go in a decidedly different direction, the price is (at least in my opinion) a bit too much.

With that said, with only 250 available, I am quite confident that there will be buyers out there more than happy to pay the freight for this one. It is a bit special.
