Every now and then, you see something that makes you smile! And the Startimer Pilot Heritage Manufacture from Alpina is definitely causing quite a few smiles -

But the real hero of this story is the movement -

If it looks a little "strange", it should. It is brand, spanking-new bumper movement. Oh, and it's an Alpina manufactured movement, in case you were interested.

Bumper was at one time the standard for automatic movements. With that said, it did fall out of favor. But I personally am very intrigued by Alpina's decision to bring it back, if only for a limited edition of 188 pieces in each version.
