I am ordinarily not a fan of "jewellery " watches, but this BaselWorld offering from DeWitt offered something a little bit out of the ordinary.
The case measures 40 mm in diameter and is distinctly DeWitt with it's fluting, or as DeWitt refers to it, "imperial columns" on the sides of the case. The 18-carat rose gold case acts as a canvas to the 60 diamonds (brilliant cut) that grace the bezel of the cases.
The dial is the truly beguiling aspect, with a celestial array writ large across a blue background. The folks at DeWitt took great pains to inform me that the dial was not painted. The decoration on the dial was achieved utilizing powdered diamond, pearl, platinum, gold, lapis lazuli and other gemstones.
With a watch like this, the movement sometimes gets short-shift but this is not powered by quartz. It is the DWHMS which is a mechanical, self-winding movement offering hours, minutes and seconds. The power reserve is advertised as 42 hours.
DeWitt has limited the available number of this piece to 10. So if you are intrigued and have the means, move with a purpose!
