80 Hours of Mido!

Allow me to introduce one of Mido's latest offerings - the Commander Caliber 80 Chronometer!

It is by now very well known that I have a soft spot for Mido, so it's always fun to report on something new from them.  This new offering sports a new movement - what Mido is terming the Caliber 80 which Mido informs us will have a power reserve up to 80 hours.  The movement has paid the statutory visit to the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres to pick up its COSC "bona fidēs ".  

The case is stainless steel, 40 mm in diameter, and warranted to be water-resistant to 50 meters or 165 feet - or to get all "nautical" on you - 5 bars.  Hours, minutes, seconds, day and date.

Movement      

Automatic Mido Caliber 80 COSC (ETA C07.621 base) certified chronometer, 11½’’’, Ø25.60 mm, height: 5.22 mm, 25

jewels, 21,600 A/H, NIVACHOC shock-absorber, NIVAFLEX NM mainspring, ELINCHRON II balance-spring. Finely

decorated chronometer movement with blued screws, decorated oscillating weight with Geneva stripes and engraved Mido

logo, functions HMSD+Day. Adjusted on 5 different positions for a high accuracy. Up to 80 hours of power reserve.

Case

Satin-finished stainless steel 316L, polished bezel, Ø40 mm 3 pieces, faceted and domed sapphire crystal, transparent 

case back to see the finely decorated and elaborate movement, engraved serial number, water‑resistant up to a pressure 

of 5 bar (50 m / 165 ft).

 

Strap 

Brown genuine calf leather strap with crocodile look and stainless steel folding clasp.

Dial    

Rhodium plated, sunray satinated, faceted indexes individually applied, indexes with white Super‑LumiNova®, day and

date at 3 o’clock.

Hands 

Diamond polished, hour and minute hands with white Super-LumiNova® for easy readability at night.
