So while the world was focused on events in Basel, other watch brands quietly worked away on their own.
Allow me to introduce Montres MONA -
This is the HMS Icone.
As I understand it, one of the guiding principles of the company is that the watch is not slapped together in a darkened back room in the far east. Instead, the constituent components of the watch are sourced and brought to their workshop in Bordeaux where the MONA watches are assembled. MONA stands for Montres Originales Nardon et Ardilouze.
The watches are stainless steel with a quartz movement. And considering that the watches are assembled by people earning real "first world" scale wages, the cost to value ratio seems quite good.
290 Euros will secure one, so it is a bit kinder on the wallet ; )
