A Breath of Fresh Air - Schofield

So I get to see a lot of press releases, more specifically READ a lot of press releases.
And yes, I could do that here, but I'd rather SHOW you the watch, and give you my thoughts.

I like this new watch from Schofield VERY much.  Okay, I will concede that I do REALLY like their tag-line:  A Gentleman's Watch Brand!   I am not immune to a catchy phrase.  But in digging into Schofield in preparing to write this - I agree!

If I have to look at another "one of a kind" dive watch, one with all the charm and originality of a "poor man's Submariner".... well let's just say that it is a real treat to see a new watch brand that is NOT a dive watch.

So when something new comes along, and it is REALLY different, well it's encouraging to see someone following THEIR vision.

I was, I have to admit, a bit beguiled by the Schofield website.  Yes, it tells me about the watches, but in many ways you are ushered into a different world - the world of Schofield.  It's frustrating for me because to some extent, I get paid to try and embody emotional resonance into objects - and the Schofield site is soooo good!

Oh well, back to the watch itself.

This is the Signalman GMT PR -

Hours, minutes, seconds and date - and a GMT indication at 6 o'clock.  44 mm, stainless steel and limited to 100 pieces.  A self-winding Soprod 9335 provides the impetus.  I have to say that I really appreciate the legibility of the GMT scale.

I would perhaps opt for a non sharkskin strap, but I also accept and appreciate that visually it does suit the look and feel of the watch.  But then again, it's as if Schofield knew that an imperfect Buddhist like myself might prefer some options -

Tweed?!?  YES - and I know, it's a bit different, but I LIKE it!

A dry wax cotton strap in blue, and for those of you following Le Tour, a shout out to Team Sky and
Chris Froome currently wearing the "maillot jaune" (that's yellow jersey to you), a yellow Millerain dry wax strap.

I am very anxious to see how Schofield evolves, let's see if they can prolong the magic.
