On the Face of it - Alpina Pilot Heritage

The dial on the Pilot Heritage is today's topic. Very clear, very "true" to the era it is honoring. From the sub-second to the outer chapter ring on the dial, Alpina has paid close attention and stuck to their brief for producing a beautiful pilot's watch inspired by an early example that they had rediscovered.

So what you might not be able to see from the picture is that not just the numbers, but the Alpina name is actually APPLIED to the dial rather than merely painted.  This achieves a couple of wonderful effects.  First of all, it really adds to the vintage look of the watch.
And again, although I didn't manage to capture it as well as I would have liked, the lume used on the Pilot Heritage is not strictly white, it is almost a "taupe" in color which gives it a bit more of a vintage look (and feel).

Secondly, the raised (applied) greatly enhance the impact of the lume when viewing the watch at night.
A few "dark" shots will be following shortly ; )
