A. Manzoni & Fils have announced the launch of their crowd-funding campaign through Kickstarter.
Oliver Ike, who you may recall partnered with Marc Newson to form Ikepod to manufacture some truly design forward mechanical watches. That was back in 1994 and I remember discovering them in Wallpaper magazine while Wendy and I were living in Finland.
Well, time moved on and it seems that Mr. Ike was not just resting on his laurels. His new venture is an attempt to create something completely new, and perhaps in the process restore a watch brand - A. Manzoni & Fils.
So starting today you have your opportunity to be a part of something exciting. The creation of the Canopus Weekplanner. I am particularly taken with the idea of the fine regulation of both the leather strap's clasp, and the bracelet as well.
Mr. Ike has been joined in this new venture by Ilkka Suppanen, a Finnish Architect/Designer who has an office not too far from where my office was back in the 90s.

Hi James,
ReplyDeleteany follow-up on this story?
What happened? Should have launched in March 2014?
With Regards
Kjell
Hi there Kjell!
ReplyDeleteMy understanding is that things are still progressing and with luck the first model will be on sale to the public in the not-too-distant future. I will keep you posted!
Thank you James.
ReplyDeleteAny knowledge about what is causing the delay, since Manzoni doesn't believe in updating.
