And so the folks from Glashutte have now come up with something you can splash around with.
I realize that it is difficult to see from my (as always) world class photography, but if you look closely at the crown, you will see two small crown guards. What you can't see (even in a decent photo) is that the crown screws down. The watch ships with both their standard shell cordovan strap and a canvas strap for when you want to dive in.
And because I care about both you - the reader, and the nice people at NOMOS Glashutte, here is a GOOD picture courtesy of their PR/Communications department -
In my own defense, the lighting in Hall 1.1 is not exactly "photo ideal", and moreover, unlike most "Gentlemen's publications", the majority of you don't read this blog for the pictures ; )
But I stand by my blurry, dark, mysterious photo. Like the cave paintings at Lascaux (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lascaux), it attempts to share a story using rudimentary understanding of light, perspective and contrast. But like those early documenters of French life, my photo demonstrates that I was there! I held this wonderful watch in my hand, admired the almost "minty" blue of the lume, and tried it on. It is very comfortable, the self winding movement is smooth and steady.
This particular NOMOS offering is referred to as the Ahoi and as I said it comes in two versions.
Hands: hour and minute hand rhodium-plated and with superluminova inlay in light blue, red seconds hand
Strap: textile strap black with winged clasp, lug width 20 mm
Water resistant to 20 atm (DIN 8310)
Reference number 550

Now having sold my share of dive watches back in my DOXA days, I think that we can objectively agree that this is NOT a diver. But it is a great watch that you can most certainly swim with. Just remember to use the canvas strap!
More to come!
