So I'm going to date myself here - I was chatting with someone connected with Kienzle the other day, talking about firsts, being first, etc.
And he asked me this: Who won the long jump in Mexico City in the 1968 Olympics?
And although it was the year I was born, I did know the answer - Bob Beamon.
And he said: Correct. Now tell me James, who was second?
And without the aid of Wikipedia I had no idea. And he started laughing. For better or worse, we remember the pioneers, the firsts, but we seldom have space in our memory banks for the second to do something, or the runner up - just ask Klaus Beer of East Germany ; )
And that is what is interesting here, it would seem that Keinzle is one of the oldest, if not the oldest German watch brands. 1822 - 2012 is a pretty good run!
In more recent times, they've launched a store in my "BaselWorld" home base of Lucerne, and they seem to be gaining some traction.
