The New Performance Watches from Zegna

A long time ago, back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth - I was an English teacher.  It was 1992 and I had been hired to teach English in Japan.  I was instructed, in no uncertain terms that suits were required, that said suits should be blue as it did not show dirt, etc., and that blue was what everyone else wore.

Armed with this information, I wandered into a store and looked around.  The sales people were quite helpful, and in the end I was presented with several respectable looking blue suits.  Some, apparently, you could even put in the washing machine in a pinch.  I shudder at the memory ; )

But there on the "sample" rack hung this beautiful brown, sort of glen plaid suit.  It was just hanging there.  But it certainly caught my eye.  Like the really intriguing girl in art history class, there was something about it.  Long story short, risking the wrath of my new Japanese employers, I bought the brown suit.  It was an Ermenegildo Zegna.  To this day, the good folks at Zegna have a very, very special place in my heart.  I met my wife while wearing that suit, and to this day it remains her favorite - we keep looking for something just like it, but not quite finding it.  Someday!

And in that spirit of adventure and discovery, I would like to introduce you to one of the new Performance watches from Zegna.  This is the  High Performance Sea Diver.

These watches are manufactured by the Sowind Group - of Girard-Perregaux/JeanRichard fame.

No cheap, tinny quartz pieces to wear one season and then throw away!  No, this is the real deal.  An ETA self-winding movement beats at the heart of the High Performance Sea Diver.

And no cheesy display back - that is solid stainless steel.
