Today has turned into another one of those days of longing. I saw this, and it speaks to me of a different time and place - familiar, but distant.
This is the Sowar 1916 from West End Watch Co.
Stainless steel case, leather strap
Diameter 39mm
Waterresistant to 50m
Extra-thick conic sapphire glass, transparent case back
Automatic movement with small second and date calendar
Pure white dial
Apparently not available here in the US, but I have sent a message to West End Watch Co.
Americans - myself included - are interested in this! It proves the point - it doesn't have to be crazy expensive, worn once by a movie star for a photo opportunity and then discarded - it needs to be interesting, it needs to stand apart - but not for the sake of standing apart.
So today my quest begins - let's hope not all the way to Mount Everest -
Stay tuned!
