As many of you know, I am a graduate of the university of Oregon. Before heading off to the U of O, my father gave me a firm handshake, $50 and pointed me west towards Chicago. Truth be told, I didn't know a whole lot about Oregon - I had never even been there! But, it was an opportunity to go somewhere else, and like Ohio, it started with the letter "O" so it was at least somewhat familiar.
Four years later, I was graduating, and my father visited Eugene (where the campus was) for the first time for the event. As I recall, I was given a briefcase that had been returned to the luggage store after having been bought by someone else, returned and sent to the repair shop. As it was half-price, my father decided that would be the perfect gift. Fathers can be like that I guess.
Now I don't know if it was a similarly disappointing graduation present that motivated the creator of this watch, but I wish he'd had the idea 21 years ago -
