Okay, I realize that for some of the more well-heeled out there Christmas means a new sable coat, perhaps a Rolex or a Patek Philippe, and if the television commercials in the US are to be believed, matching his and hers BMWs.
However, here in the Henki household we try to stay within reason - and I am very, very glad that we do!
This little gem was waiting under the tree for me this year - the SWATCH Burgundy Rebel.
This is part of SWATCH's new Gents collection, and it is a very positive step for a few reasons.
First and foremost, the size is a bit more in keeping with the current trends. It is just that little bit bigger than the previous "standard" size. The strap is another great improvement - it is more "rubbery" not merely plastic. This makes for a much more comfortable fit, and a strap that will be far less prone to cracking or breaking. My only complaint with other swatches is that in some cases, once the strap breaks, you have to either a "semi-close" match, or you need to hunt high and low. In the instance that you take option number two, a good place to know about is Squiggly Swatch! They have a very impressive stock of SWATCH watches and straps from the early 80's to present day.

I really love the design - simple and clean, but with a twist - the burgundy is a great departure.
And most of all, I love it because someone special took the time to find it for me!
I wish one and all a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year!
